AI Governance & Oversight Policy

Responsible Technology Approach
WBP Equip operates within the built-environment and wellbeing ecosystem, developing technology that incorporates data analytics and AI-driven capabilities.
We are committed to responsibility, transparency, and accountability in how we develop, deploy, and manage these capabilities. Our approach to AI governance reflects our belief that technology should support — not replace — professional judgement, and should be subject to appropriate oversight at all times.
Human Oversight and Accountability
We do not permit fully automated critical decision-making without appropriate human involvement. Technology supports analysis and insight, but does not replace professional or organisational judgement.
Accountability for decisions supported by technology remains with those responsible for the relevant activity or function.
Fairness, Bias Awareness, and Integrity
We consider the origin, quality, and limitations of data used within our systems. We design our technology to support fairness and to reduce the risk of bias, and we seek independent expert input where appropriate to validate methodologies and outputs.
Transparency and Explainability
We seek to avoid opaque or misleading representations of technology-driven outputs. Where our systems produce analysis or insight, we support explainability and enable users to understand the basis and limitations of those outputs.
Data Protection and Privacy
Our use of data is governed by our Data Protection and Privacy Statement and our Privacy Policy. Data used within AI and technology systems is processed lawfully and proportionately, with appropriate safeguards and minimisation measures in place.
Security and Reliability
We apply proportionate security measures to protect technology systems, including access management, system resilience, and incident response capabilities, as outlined in our Information Security Overview.
Independent Review and Continuous Improvement
We engage independent advisers where appropriate to provide validation, assurance, and specialist support in relation to AI and technology governance. We review our approach regularly and will update it as our operations and the regulatory landscape develop.
Use and Limitations
Our technology is designed to support professional judgement, not to replace it. Outputs and analysis should be interpreted in context and used alongside appropriate professional advice.
